START – Short Term Assistance, Resources and Therapy


START is a short term early childhood intervention service for families while they are waiting for an ongoing ECIS in Gippsland. START has been in operation since 2004 and the demand for the interim service continues to grow.

The Centre for Community Child Health has completed an Interim Report towards the evaluation and review of START.

Planning is underway for the trial of an alternative service model over the coming months. It is anticipated that this service model will be evaluated and a report will be released prior to December 2009.

All early childhood services will enhance family capacity to give children the best start in life.

GECIAN will enhance family and community capacity
through strategic planning, development of collaborative practice and the provision of advice.
